Standard Blood Work
Standard blood work is the tests that can be performed off a simple blood draw and are often used as general health screens. These tests include items like a comprehensive metabolic screen, lipid panel, and thyroid panel. Using these tests an accurate snapshot can be obtained of how your body is working at the moment of the blood draw. With these results we can look at organ function, cell health, nutrition status, and the regulation of your internal environment.
For someone who is just interested in a general health check examples of tests that might be ordered include a complete blood count with differential, comprehensive metabolic panel, lipid panel, homocysteine, c-reactive protein, HbA1c, and a vitamin D. Depending on your personal and family health history, other tests may be included to check areas like the thyroid, autoimmune conditions, and anemia.
After your test there will be a consultation to discuss the results and next steps. Our results consultation differs from other offices. Dr. Talbitzer will explain every test whether it is normal or abnormal so that you understand how every test fits into your health picture. It is possible that there would be a need to dive deeper into a particular organ or system leading to a discussion of specialized tests. However, there may be areas to work on in the standard blood work which could lead to improvement in health without the need for additional testing. Treatment options could include dietary changes, lifestyle modifications, supplementation to raise deficient levels, and nutraceuticals to naturally treat issues. Whatever the next step is, it will be tailored to fit your individual needs and health goals. The first step is to schedule an initial consultation with our doctor to discuss your health goals and the testing options in more detail.
